Privacy Policy
1 Who we are
ClearHurdle is operated by Karam Bouini ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at [email protected] for any privacy-related requests.
2 What ClearHurdle actually does
ClearHurdle connects your input to up to four independent third-party AI platforms — Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT-4o), Google (Gemini), and xAI (Grok). The specific platforms used in any given session depend on the engines you select. When you submit a hurdle:
- Your text is transmitted to each selected AI provider via their respective APIs
- Each provider processes your content under their own privacy policies and terms
- Their responses are returned to you through our interface
- We do not permanently store, analyse, or sell the content of your hurdles. Before each session, your hurdle text is also processed to estimate session complexity and classify the debate type — this processing is subject to the privacy policy of the model used for that step
- Prompt logs may be retained for up to 30 days for quality improvement and debugging purposes, after which they are automatically deleted. Prompt logging is disabled by default and enabled only for system improvement purposes
The AI processing of your content is governed by the privacy policies of Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and xAI — not by this policy. We strongly recommend reviewing their policies if you are concerned about how AI providers handle input data.
3 Data we collect
We collect the minimum necessary to operate the service:
- Account data: Your email address when you create an account, and your name if you use Google sign-in Usage data: Number of sessions run, credits used, and session timestamps — used to manage your credit balance Payment data: Payment transactions are processed entirely by Lemon Squeezy. We never see, store, or handle your card details
- Technical data: Standard server logs including IP address, browser type, and page requests — retained for up to 30 days for security purposes
- Feedback data: If you submit ratings, feedback comments, issue reports, or credit claims, we store the content of those submissions along with your user ID and session reference — used solely to improve the service and resolve disputes
- Session state: Your browser may temporarily store session data locally to enable session resumption. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers beyond what is needed to resume your session
- User challenge data: If you voluntarily submit a challenge or pushback during a debate session and explicitly consent to beta recording via the checkbox provided, we store the anonymised text of your challenge solely to improve the system. This is strictly opt-in and never collected without your consent at the point of submission
4 Data we do not collect
- We do not permanently store the full text content of your hurdles — session content is retained for a maximum of 7 days for technical and dispute resolution purposes, after which it is automatically deleted
- We do not build profiles or infer personal characteristics from your usage
- We do not use tracking pixels, advertising trackers, or behavioural analytics
- We do not sell any data to any third party under any circumstances
- We do not store user challenge data without explicit opt-in consent at the point of submission

6 How we store your data
Your account data is stored in Supabase, a third-party database provider with industry-standard security practices including encryption at rest and in transit. We do not operate our own servers. All infrastructure is managed by Cloudflare and Supabase.

You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and associated data

8 Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Different data types are retained for different periods: session and hurdle content is deleted after a maximum of 7 days; prompt logs are deleted after a maximum of 30 days; feedback and issue reports are retained for 90 days; user challenge data submitted with beta consent is retained for a maximum of 12 months or until consent is withdrawn; purchase records are retained for 7 years for financial compliance; technical logs are retained for 30 days. Note that third-party AI providers including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and xAI may retain processed content under their own retention policies — we have no control over this and accept no liability for their retention practices.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of ClearHurdle after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
